As part of the 150th Anniversary of a local school, our colleague Katie has been busy researching links between children who attended the school, and men & women who had made sacrifices during both World Wars. This research has led to a Roll of Honour of past pupils and details of their roles and sacrifices in both World Wars, enabling the current school pupils to understand a little more of the history of these events, and the impact on individuals.
This research also led Katie to find a soldier who lived very close to the current Ferrabyrne site; her research can be read here: Alfred Tizzard
The full details of Alfred's story can be found here: The Lonely Grave of Alfred Tizzard, courtesy of Michael Muldoon. Many thanks also to Martin Tizzard, who gave permission to Katie to use the story.
We will remember them.
